I'm willing to consider people I don't know yet too. Feel free to call or email with questions email
Jeff. For more information, go to Roommate Wanted.

New Hire Read: Copies in Seconds by David Owen
For those of you that are interested in learning something about the invention of the Xerox machine and the early history of our company, I recommend Copies in Seconds, by David Owen. It follows Chester Carlson’s work as he rose from poverty to invent the photocopier.
Also detailed are the efforts of Joseph Wilson and other Haloid Xerox employees as they overcame many problems to create the 914, the world’s first plain-paper copier. The idea was turned down by many major companies, including Kodak and IBM. Wilson took a huge gamble on a machine that the world didn’t even realize that it needed.
Copies in Seconds is a good perspective for new hires to understand where our company was 45 years ago and how far it has come since then. Regardless of what your job is, there are plenty of anecdotes that you can probably relate to.

Xerox Makes Fortune's America's Most Admired Companies 2006 List
As a Xerox employee, I'm proud to say that Xerox has made the list as the #3 computer company as stated by Fortune Magazine. Xerox beat out competing companies such as Dell and HP in order to take this esteemed position.
The Big Picture explains how Fortune decided upon their picks and how they chose the best of the best.

Xerox Jumpstarts Giving Campaign
The United Way of Greater Rochester kicks off its community-wide fundraising campaign this week. As one of the area’s largest employers, Xerox and Xerox people play a significant role in the success of the campaign.
The United Way focuses on three areas of support: Student Readiness and Success, Strengthening People and Families, and Supporting People in Crisis. Your donations improve the lives of many and address the issues impacting Monroe County: low graduation rates; child abuse and child poverty (Rochester ranks 11th worst in the U.S); home care for seniors; and stabilizing crime-ridden neighborhoods.
Xerox has a long-standing tradition of involvement with our local United Way. In 2006, Xerox employees gave over $1 million dollars. While that was a strong showing of our support, year over year, our participation rates are dropping. More than 4,000 employees do not give. We can and we should do better for those in need in our community.
I am pledging my support and I urge you to do the same. You’ll soon receive a letter from Anne Mulcahy along with information about the United Way campaign and how you can contribute. It’s easy: visit PeopleNet at www.xpn.xerox.com/xpnindex.html
and click on the United Way tab. Every gesture of support makes a significant difference to the people who need it the most.
Thank you for your past contributions and continued generosity.
Ursula Burns
President, Business Group Operations

Xerox's Inventor-in-Chief Talks About Innovation
An innovation revival has lifted profits to $1.2 billion. Fortune's Geoff Colvin asks CTO Sophie Vandebroek: Can the company keep it up?
(Fortune Magazine) -- If all goes as scheduled, President Bush will hand Xerox's Sophie Vandebroek the National Medal of Technology at the White House in late July. It will be a sweet moment for her and for a company that was built on a world-changing innovation - xerography - but that lost its way for a while in the Digital Revolution.
